American Coin Mailing List

The American Coin List is a normal unmoderated mailing list. Only members of the American Coin mailing list can post to the list. Fortunately, it only takes a minute to subscribe. The purpose of the list is to discuss US coins and related topics. This includes US colonial coins, patterns, pioneer issues, proofs and regular issue coinage. Anything from the Red Book or Breen is on topic by definition. General numismatic discussions are also welcome, if of interest to collectors of American coins. For example, discussions of coin care, investment strategies, slabbing, coin stories, etc. Discussions of non-US coinage is discouraged just as any other off-topic posting. There are already several good mailing lists for general discussions of world coins and tokens. Discussions of paper money are also discouraged.

Universities sponsor the other coins mailing lists. Posting commercial announcements on those lists is prohibited. In most cases, this is simply university policy. As a commercial organization, American Coin has set up the rules in a more tolerant fashion. At this point, we encourage you to post on topic commercial messages. If you have coins to sell, or want to find particular coins, please post your desires to the mailing list.

E-mail attachments are discouraged, but references to web pages can be included to show pictures, etc. relating to the posting.

The rules of the list are subject to change, but not without notice. Mailing lists are living creatures that must be allowed to evolve into their final, most useful state.
