Welcome to American Coin on the Web!
Our goal is to make buying, selling, and learning about American coins using the Internet easy, pleasant and familiar. We've come a long way since 1996 when both this site and the World Wide Web were new.
We respond to a large number of inquiries about coins. As you can see below, we get a lot of visitors to this site. About 10% of you end up emailing us a question. While we really do try to answer as many of the questions as we can, inevitably we fall behind on at least some of your emails. A few of the trickier questions are still sitting in the in box from months ago. We apologize for this tremendously. In an effort to get you the information you need faster, we have redesigned part of the website to make finding your answers easier. Before emailing us, please take the time to go through our Coin Answer Wizard or search our site with the form below. Even if you do have to eventually email us, using the answer wizard assures that your question doesn't go out with the 150 spam messages we get daily. That's because messages with well formed subject lines will get answered first.
If you want to buy coins, go to our Buying Coins page. Rather that simply a price list, here at American Coin, you can learn about buying coins. There is a lot of disinformation out there, and a lot of people in the coin business trying to make a quick buck through aggressive marketing. By learning about buying coins, you can protect yourself from getting taken advantage of.
If you want to sell coins, start with our Selling Coins page. Again, at American Coin, we educate you about selling coins. We tell you the pros and cons of selling in various ways, and allow you to make an informed decision about where to go with the coins you have. Many people inherit coin collections. This is one of the best places on the web to come to answer your questions about how to liquidate inherited collections. If you are thinking about selling with Heritage auctions, you might want to read this article on Heritage unfair to seller.
In order to pay the bills, we have had to put some of our goodies up on Ebay. This includes a marvelous collection of Paralympics and Olympic street banners from the recently completed Winter Olympics here in Salt Lake City. These banners are hard to come by, and they won't last long. Let your fire burn within, and take a gander at these items by clicking to my Ebay listings. If you want to make an offer on one of these prior to being listed on Ebay, contact me and let's make a deal. Heck, I might even list a few coins up there. Please help us keep the lights on by visiting our Ebay offerings.
If you want to learn more about coin collecting in general, visit our Coin School where you can learn more about the hobby of kings. If you have more than a passing interest, you may enjoy joining the American Coin Mailing List will help you to make friends and deals with some of the greatest numismatists, collectors and dealers on the net.
